April 18 - Golden referral, MCC and CGCC

It has been non stop this week!!! We are being referred people to
teach right and left, the Lord is truly blessing this area! We have
three solid investigators we're working with: Morgan was referred to
us last week and some Elders passed her off to us. Her mom's LA and
they used to go when she was a little girl but decided to learn more
now that she's older and wants to be baptized. Andy was just referred
to us by the same elders and he grew up with a bunch of LDS friends
and decided to start reading the Book of Mormon and is set for baptism
on May 7!!! And then Mitchell is also super solid and referred himself
as well because he had some questions he wanted answered so he's on
date for his birthday July 24 but I think that'll move up for sure.
We had a lemonade stand on MCC (Mesa Community College) and this week
we're having one on CGCC (Chandler Gilbert) It was super successful
and missionaries haven't gone on campus for at least 2 years so it was
good for everyone to see us. I saw Alex who I served with in the RS
presidency up at BYUI!!! It's so crazy to see a familiar face on your
mission because you're so used to talking with new people all day.
This week we had zone conference with two other zones (San Tan and
Chandler East) and it's seriously so fun to see other missionaries! I
love hearing from President because he loves us so much. He felt the
need to talk to us about individual apostasy. There's so many evil
influences all around us that we have to be focused on the most
important thing... The gospel of Jesus Christ. I don't want him to
leave in July but like he said all of our missions will come to an end
and we must allow others to serve.
This week we were able to go with out recent convert to do baptisms
for the dead for his first time! It's such a blessing to see the
gospel bless and change individual's loves right in front of your
eyes. Xavier has such a strong support system not just from his
friends he's made in the ward but even from his family who aren't
members because you don't see that too often, especially in YSA. I
find recent converts are so eager to do missionary work! We were on
our way to the temple and we were talking about one of our
investigators that had some concerns about becoming a member and
Xavier wants to come and help because he gets it! He asked does that
count as missionary work? And we let him know that doing and temple
work is also missionary work!
I'm grateful to be a missionary and for all the wonderful people you
get to meet every week! I love you all and I pray for you every day!
Have a wonderful week!

April 11 - Blessings of the Temple

HAPPY BIRTHDAY POPS!!! I died laughing at your email especially when
you talked about getting Medicare and watching Lassie! I'm so lucky to
have parents as wonderful as you two!
I don't have too much to report on this week. We did get to go to the
temple which was amazing! When we walked in the temple President
almost walked past us but stopped and shared cool insight about
sharing the desires of our heart with the Lord any time we go to the
temple, read our scriptures, etc. so I thought, self, "What do I
desire to get out of the temple today?" My desire was to feel I was
making a difference. Not necessarily in missionary work but I wanted
to feel that Betsy, who's endowment I was performing, accepted or that
I could feel how much Grandma and Grandpa Cannon love me. I didn't get
that out of the temple but I always remember what dad and I talked
about when I first went through. You said you don't always know why we
do what we do in the temple but you go because of the peace you can
feel while you're there. Every time I go to the temple I go back to
that thought- I've never received an answer while I was in the temple
but I do know when I go I can feel peace. I'm grateful for your great
examples of going to the temple every week and being faithful even
when times get hard. I love you both so much! Have a great week:)

April 4 - General Conference Brings Miracles!

I don't even know where to begin! To start off with... I'm staying in YSA another transfer!!! I'm pretty sure I was called to the Chandler Arizona mission however I'm sure this is where the Lord needs me right now. When this transfer ends I will have been in the same house a whole year!
So on Tuesday we had district meeting and and more than the excitement that comes from seeing other missionaries district meeting is like a reset on missionary work where you can evaluate your previous week and how you can improve. Afterwards we go to FMSC to package food for children all over the world. [I'm sorry if this sounds familiar.... We do do this every week and that's the beauty of being a missionary haha] Then we were able to eat dinner with the Sharps! It was so great to see them after such a long time. Everyone's grown up and adulting. [Adulting: verb. To do things adults do such as work and go to college.] In the evening we were able to go to the Mesa temple to do baptisms for the dead with our recent convert for the first time! It's truly amazing to see just how much the gospel can change an individual's life! The gospel of Jesus Christ provides purpose and peace to our lives. We were able to FaceTime our other recent convert when we got back from the temple which was a miracle! We haven't been able to set something up for the past couple months since she was baptized because she's incredibly busy!
Thursday was transfers and we got a couple new sisters in DuH! [Dublin House] One of my favorite parts of my mission is getting to know all the new people you meet! This week we were able to have a lesson with Xavier for the first time since his baptism! He totally went to UT this weekend to watch general conference with some friends from the ward and was able to do baptisms for the dead for the first time in the Salt Lake temple! This week we were also able to finish up the new member lessons with Andreas and Aaron! My testimony is strengthened just by  hearing the testimonies of those we teach- member and nonmember.
This week we received a referral for a guy named Mitchel and I can't say enough good about him! He flagged down some elders because of some questions he had and they referred him to us because he's YSA so we went and stopped by were able to answer some of his questions and invited him to watch conference with us at the church. Fast forward to Sunday afternoon session and Mitchel totally came! We had members there to watch with us and when it was over we asked him if he had any questions. This was his response, "I did but the video answered most of them." Whaaaaat?? The spirit was so strong as the members and Sister Mylroie and I were able to answer the rest of his questions. He coming to FHE tonight and he's just the coolest! The other sessions of conference we watched at the ASU institute with our recent convert Troy. As far as highlights from general conference there's too many to tell but I'll leave you with a quote from Elder Holland that I loved.
"You can have what you want or you can have something better"
We make choices every day that either bring us closer to Heavenly Father or further from Him. I've found when we look at decisions with an eternal perspective we are able to see more clearly the path Heavenly Father has intended for us to follow. It may not always be the one we want or even the one we think we should choose I know when we choose the Lord's way there's always something better. I love you all and I'm grateful for each and everyone of you!

Sister Mylorie and I

March 28 - Lots of changes coming!

This week was pretty rough because one of the sisters we live with
went home because of her shoulder and I was super close with her. I
hate saying good bye but hopefully they can get her shoulder better
and she can come back. That's my dying wish is to be her companion if
she comes back before I go home! I'm grateful I was to send a text for
mothers conference, too! President has the biggest heart and I'm not
talking physically. It's going to be hard to let them go but I know
they can't stay forever. I'm not sure what will happen with transfers
but whatever it is I know it's what needs to happen. I love how much
time you spend with the fam! That's one things that's different with
YSA is not having the family unit but family wards just spoil you so
it's been good for me I'm sure haha. So Bailey turns 11 next week??
And the Bubs turn 9 in May and Benson 13 in June??? I can't believe
how old and big everyone is getting! Benson will be a teenager! Also
when is grandmas birthday cause I know grandpas is apr. 3. Is there
anything I can do for you? Any prayers or anything? I get to go to the
temple next week! I miss going to the temple every week! That'll
definitely be something I do when I get back. How are both of you
doing? How's the family doing? How's work going? Cal sent me Grants
talk he gave about hard work and both of you are great examples of
that! That seems to be a lost trade these days for the younger
generation (aka my generation) but I'm lucky to have such great
examples of it in my life! Al is doing great! She's serving in
Nuneaton still with her comp from Zimbabwe. They can't ride the train
cause of the bombings in Belgium. Crazyness over there! Sister Hansens
was pretty shaken up cause she lives in England but is from Belgium so
that's where her family is. Vicky works at the U of U now. Eli gets
home July 1st I think and Austin gets home in August pretty sure. I
love you both so much! Enjoy conference this weekend!
